Heterogeneous shelves
Allocate mixed formats without hiding oversize exceptions.
Place several measured material groups across different shelf bays. Compare every group's placement, unplaced items and the working space left in each bay.
1. Material groups
Use anonymous category labels, not titles, barcodes or personal records. Each group is modelled using one thickness, height and depth in centimetres. These example values are editable, not recommended dimensions.
2. Bay profiles
A profile contains shelves with identical usable width, clear height and depth. Add a separate profile when those dimensions differ. Each profile can contain 1–1,000 shelves.
3. Working-fill assumption
The same fill percentage limits usable width on every shelf. An item must fit on one shelf; leftover fragments on different shelves cannot be joined.
Order matters. This is sequential first-fit, not a global optimization. Earlier groups get first access to earlier bay profiles. Use “Move earlier” to test another order; a shortfall does not prove that no better arrangement exists.
